Like Alice who tumbled down the rabbit hole, so do we now tumble through the many twists and turns which the internetzz provide us. Who knows where and when the tumblr will end?

I have a bit of a thing for abbreviations…

alexamayiborrowyourpencil:

I do. It’s true. I’ll try to abbreviate anything. Even if the abbreviated version is harder to say than the conventional, full version. I just love them.

Some of my favorite abbrevations are:

  • Def (definitely)
  • Bullsh (bullshit)
  • Lib (library)
  • B buck (belt buckle)
  • Profess (professional)
  • Amaz (amazing)
  • Abbrev (abbreviation)
  • Ip (ipod)
  • Hist (history)
  • Eng (english)
  • Nov (novel)
  • Whatev (whatever)

And so on. I mean yeah, a lot of them are seriously really obvious. But you’d be surprised how many people find me completely impossible to follow.

We’re a different breed, us serial abbreviators.

Post Script: It’s funny, because I’ll always type full words. I’ll abbreviate words that don’t need abbreviation, but I’ll have none of this “u” and “r” and “w/e” shiz. I’ll throw out the occasional “brb” because, let’s face it, I’m usually in a hurry… But “gtg”? No! I only learnt what “imo” meant about two days ago… as well as “afk”. Sigh, I’m so behind with the times.

its okkk if u (yes the u in intentional) ever talk to lex on msn you have to say the ‘Abbrev’ and then in brackets the meaning next to it.. i know it defeates the purpose of the use of the abbreviation but it adds an annoyence factor that is rather entertaining
